Problem

Customer feedback revealed dissatisfaction with the Tymit app's design, particularly compared to other fintech options in the market. Additionally, only 30% of users were opting for payment plans within the app.

Goals & Success Metrics

The objective was to enhance the app's design and reliability, aiming to increase the number of users selecting payment plans by 10% compared to previous months.

Why

The latest PMF survey and community feedback highlighted user dissatisfaction with the app's design, signalling the need for significant improvements.

My Role

I led the effort to enhance the app’s design, working closely with the design team and frontend (iOS and Android) developers to implement elements of our new Design System.

Active customers.

Results

After more than five iterations, we finalized this solution and decided to roll out the implementation in three phases. The first phase introduces the new Design System along with an updated header, featuring all billing states and payment information.
✅ 91% out of 450 customers selected they want the new Home screen on the product market fit survey

✅ 16% increase in the number of customers choosing a payment plan compared to previous months

Retrospective

The solution successfully improved both key metrics, but there’s still more to be done. User interviews have provided valuable insights for the next iteration. I'm proud of the team's efforts in executing the redesign. If I could change one thing, I would involve the UX content strategist from the very beginning. This project was a significant learning experience for me, particularly in realizing that the phased implementation of the Design System was indeed the right decision.
