The Premise.

High-intent, Tier-1 students expect a "concierge" level of digital sophistication when making high-stakes global education decisions. However, a cognitive walkthrough of this platform’s desktop onboarding flow revealed severe friction. While the "happy path" was functional, the emotional path was broken, leading to critical user drop-off and inflated Customer Acquisition Costs (CAC).
The Methodology

Targeted Behavioural Audit

I executed a targeted behavioural audit focused specifically on the desktop experience, prioritising cognitive load, semantic integrity, and user agency over basic usability metrics.
Finding 01

The Whitespace Risk

The platform confronted users with excessively large, unutilized whitespace during the data-entry phase. In a high-stakes ecosystem, this lack of information density triggers cognitive anxiety and creates immediate doubt regarding system stability.
Finding 02

Contextual Neglect

The UI relied on ported mobile scroll mechanics (horizontal dragging) without mouse-optimized affordances. This, combined with broken feedback loops and conflicting CTAs, acted as a massive credibility leak.
Finding 03

The User Agency Gap

After OTP verification, users were forced into a "locked" state with no visible 'Back' button or 'Cancel' option on confirmed sessions. This lack of an escape hatch creates a trap sensation, destroying platform trust.
Strategic Intervention

The Fix: Trust as Architecture

To convert this frustrating transaction into a high-trust partnership, I proposed three systemic architectural shifts:
Eliminate internal developer jargon (e.g., "Tofu Team") from the front-end UI. Replace vague CTAs with high-intent, state-aware microcopy.
