MESS: Sponsorship Proposal Built as a Template

Sulman Cheema

Sulman Cheema

Spec project for MESS, the Mechanical Engineering Student Society at the University of Melbourne, published with the society's approval. The 2027 partnership proposal, built so the society can update it every year.

Brief

Sponsorship packs land with graduate recruiters and marketing teams who read a lot of them. This one had to say who the society is, what a partner gets and what each level costs, quickly and without padding.

Architecture and design system

One page for each question a sponsor asks: a welcome from the president, who the society is, the year's events, what partners have already taken part in, four ways a partnership pays off, then the tiers and two further ways to work together.
Eight A4 pages on a single grid, with print styles fixing the page size.
Gold and Platinum sit in a single table, so every benefit lines up and the difference reads at once.

Motion and visual delivery

Deep green and cream keep the tone sober. The whole proposal is one HTML file that prints straight to PDF at 100% with no margins, as its own footer instructs.

Impact

An eight-page A4 proposal and its PDF, both from one file.
A template the society can update for later years, with all the text in the HTML.
Measured on the published build (Chromium 141, Lighthouse 12.8 desktop preset, October 2026):
Lighthouse performance 100: largest contentful paint 0.4 s, total blocking time 0 ms, layout shift 0.
The full proposal is a 34 KB HTML file, 9 KB gzipped.
The eight-page A4 PDF embeds every font it uses.
