iLearn: Website Redesign and Programme Finder

Sulman Cheema

Sulman Cheema

Spec project for iLearn, published with iLearn's approval. A redesign direction with a written proposal, built on the brand iLearn already has.

Brief

iLearn has run learnerships and skills programmes for South African employers since 2001. Its catalogue is large: learnerships, skills programmes, short courses and digital learning, across NQF levels, delivery modes and regions. A visitor with a specific goal had to know the vocabulary to find the right programme, and companies and learners went through the same homepage.

Architecture and design system

An audit of the current site, end to end, listing what the design was hiding and where visitors got lost.
The homepage, a Programme Finder and an employer leave-behind designed as one system on iLearn's existing blue and gold.
The Programme Finder filters the whole catalogue by who you are and what you want to achieve, so nobody needs the vocabulary first.
A one-page note on what the studio saw, what it proposes and what could follow.

Motion and visual delivery

The homepage leads with iLearn's own promise and uses its accreditations as proof. The leave-behind gives consultants one slide to hand an HR lead, drawn from the same design system as the site.

Impact

Three mockups and a written proposal in one six-page A4 document.
A Programme Finder that sorts every programme by the visitor's goal.
Measured on the published build (Chromium 141, Lighthouse 12.8 desktop preset, October 2026):
Lighthouse performance 100: largest contentful paint 0.4 s, total blocking time 0 ms, layout shift 0.
The full document is a 34 KB HTML file, 9 KB gzipped.
The six-page A4 PDF embeds every font it uses.
