Crafted a bold and fluid Spotify-themed intro using 3D animation to elevate brand storytelling.
About the Concept
When we open Spotify, we expect sound — but what if the very first moment also looked like music felt? This project was driven by that idea: to create a 3D intro where visuals move with the same energy, flow, and unpredictability as music itself.
The vision was simple yet powerful: turn the invisible rhythm of sound into a visible rhythm of motion.
Storytelling Through Design
The animation starts with soft circular pulses, gradually expanding like ripples on water — a metaphor for how one song can resonate globally. From there, the visuals build momentum, layering transitions and light bursts that mirror the emotional peaks of a track.
The circular waveforms represent Spotify’s global reach — millions of listeners connected through sound.
The layered motions suggest playlists blending seamlessly, echoing the way Spotify curates experiences.
The neon gradients and glowing edges inject energy, reflecting the brand’s vibrant identity and youth-driven audience.
The fast-paced cuts and transitions mirror the excitement of discovering a new song or playlist.
The entire sequence was designed to feel less like a static logo reveal and more like a performance — a short, immersive show that welcomes users into Spotify’s universe.
Tools & Creative Process
Spline (3D Design & Animation): The foundation of the project. Spline allowed me to create a dynamic 3D environment with layered depth, immersive lighting, and fluid motion paths. The flexibility of real-time editing made it possible to experiment until the animation felt musically alive.
Concept-Driven Workflow: Instead of starting with visuals, I started with rhythm. I mapped out the “beats” of the animation the same way a musician arranges a track — intro, build-up, drop, and resolution. This gave the animation a natural flow.
Color & Light Exploration: Gradients and neon highlights were carefully balanced to give contrast and energy, without overwhelming the eye. The glow effect amplifies the feeling of sound waves radiating into space.
Key Design Elements
🎵 Circular Motion: Representing infinite loops, sound waves, and the flow of global music.
🌐 Layered Depth: Multiple elements moving at different speeds to create a sense of immersion.
⚡ Energetic Transitions: Quick cuts and directional changes for excitement and rhythm.
✨ Fluid Lighting: Dynamic shadows and highlights that shift with the beat.
Outcome
The final result is a 3D intro that feels like music in motion. It elevates Spotify’s brand identity beyond sound — making the logo a gateway to an experience, not just a platform.
This project demonstrates how 3D design and motion storytelling can amplify brand storytelling, turning something as simple as an intro animation into a memorable brand moment.
Reimagining dashboards as experiences, not just data grids.
Why This Matters
In today’s digital world, intros aren’t just decorative — they are first impressions. A well-crafted intro can:
Energize users instantly.
Set the tone for brand interaction.
Build emotional connection through rhythm and movement.
Differentiate the brand by merging sound with immersive visuals.
This experiment reimagines how motion identity can become as iconic as a sound identity.
