AviaCost is a cloud-based aircraft ownership and operating cost calculator designed to simplify one of the most complex financial decisions in business aviation - understanding and projecting aircraft costs with precision. Built on a comprehensive database of aircraft, operational variables, and cost drivers, AviaCost empowers operators, owners, financial planners, and aviation professionals with reliable cost models, side-by-side comparisons, and downloadable reports that reflect real-world scenarios.
I served as the founding UI/UX designer for AviaCost from its earliest product iterations, shaping the platform’s user experience, visual language, and brand presence in an industry where clarity and trust are paramount. My role evolved organically from interface design into brand design, digital content creation, marketing strategy, and event graphics — all aimed at positioning AviaCost as a credible, professional tool in a niche but discerning market.

Product Experience Design: Turning Complexity into Clarity

AviaCost tackles inherently complex calculations involving variable and fixed aircraft costs, fuel burn, utilization hours, depreciation, maintenance reserves, and multiple ownership models. Presenting this depth of information in a way that users could interpret at a glance was the central UX challenge.
I led the UI redesign to:
Establish visual hierarchy that helps users prioritise inputs and results - from selecting aircraft to interpreting annual operating costs.
Simplify data presentation with interactive tables, clear form controls, and responsive layouts so users can explore detailed scenarios without cognitive overload.
Enable actionable comparisons, with side-by-side aircraft comparisons and downloadable, branded reports that support decision-making.
By focusing on clarity, consistency, and workflow efficiency, the redesigned interface reduced friction for first-time users and improved retention among professionals who rely on regular analysis.

Brand & Marketing: Elevating Market Perception

As AviaCost matured, my responsibilities expanded beyond screens into shaping its brand narrative and market voice:
Brand Design & Visual Identity - I developed cohesive visual elements that reflect AviaCost’s precision and authority in aviation finance, including logo system refinements, interface iconography, color systems, and typography tailored for technical clarity.
Social Media Content (Photo & Video) - I produced aviation-oriented visual content that communicates product insights, supports organic engagement, and educates users about cost components and tools.
Email Newsletter Marketing - I designed and executed email campaigns that improved communication with subscribers and nurtured long-term engagement with targeted editorial and data-driven content.
NBAA Booth & Event Graphics - For major industry events such as NBAA conventions, I designed booth graphics and visual assets that elevated AviaCost’s presence on the show floor, helping attract qualified leads and build brand authority among operators and aviation executives.

Business Results & Growth Metrics

AviaCost has attracted upwards of 70 active subscribers across aviation operators and finance users. Based on publicly listed pricing ($1,895 per user per year for the primary annual plan), this translates to an Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) of approximately $132,650.
Beyond revenue, the impact of my work is reflected in:
Increased trial conversions and onboarding success through streamlined UX.
Higher engagement metrics on social and email channels through tailored content design.
Greater industry recognition and legitimacy through professional visual identity and event presence.
