Overview:

Blume Messenger is a chat app that solely focuses on being a chat application. There are plenty of messaging apps out there. Some have impressive features (Like Snapchat), some has broadcast channels (like WhatsApp, which are of literally less use) while some offer great security (Like Facebook 😉). But, sometimes, we have so many groups to join and so many stories to share. Times have changed & so has technology. Blume is a simple messaging app with superpowers to handle all your work & personal stuff altogether without messing up with other irrelevant things. It makes things like managing your chats, groups, crucial documents, and media a lot easier so that you can focus on what matters to you the most. Make events (or parties), plan meetings (or birthdays), manage personal & business conversations, change chat modes, & do much more (but only what matters to you the most, a great conversation) In short, it's a chat app with the features I wanted to use and I wish existed.

Key Challenges and Solutions:

Challenge: Back and Forth Switching while chatting
You must be familiar with the feeling of chatting with more than one person at a time. It requires multiple steps to switch between multiple conversations.
Solution: Introduced Quick Switch
By introducing a quick switch, it's relatively easier to switch and talk to multiple people simultaneously. Thereby reducing the back-and-forth action.
Introducing Quick Switch
Challenge: Adaptability while chatting modes
There are times when we dont want to type and tap at all. and there are times when we just want to share the moments we're in. A messaging app should cater to all the needs of a typical messaging app user.
Solution: Introduced Chat Moods2
Call it a chat mode or mood, both are quite similar to what they sound. This has 2 modes:
Audio Mode (Voice Enabled): Along with the voice note feature, you can go completely audio mode. Audio mode is a real-time personal or group chat room in which users can communicate with each other via audio.
Snap mode: Snapchat has already made its way to this. But what's different in Blume is giving you what you deserve, and only what matters the most to you. At a party? Switch to Snap mode, share pictures and videos, and manage visibility with friends quickly.
Vibe Mode: In a mood to pass some time? Or just want to cool up? Play games, listen to songs together (Through Spotify sync), and create a good vibe.

Challenge: Too many chats, too many groups, too many types of conversation
We've got quite a lot of groups and chats now. Best friend Olivia, Olivia, Senior Manager from the office, family groups, friends group, side business groups, and much more. Managing all of it in a single place is quite heavy.
Solution: One place for people and groups. Introducing relative tagging
With Blume, finding all your chats at one place and groups at the other end has become way easier. It's now elementary to find and differentiate the bestie Olivia and the manager Olivia, thanks to relative tagging. Relative tagging is a feature that enables you to tag any person/group and differentiate accordingly. Find all your Business conversations, Personal Conversations, and every other conversation that matters to you, all in a single place.
Relative Tagging
Challenge: Private Messaging
Sometimes, we want to have a specific conversation with someone while being in a group conversation. We might want to say something to someone, or just have an opinion or perspective towards a specific topic.
Solution: Introduced Go Incognito
Going Incognito works as it sounds. It keeps your chats on vanish mode like Instagram. (ofc, It didn't exist when this feature was introduced in Blume. I thought of combining the Incognito into chat moods but I felt Incognito is serving a more sudden and elementary purpose, hence kept it aside.
Go Incognito
Not quite a Challenge: Channels, Community, statuses, Et cetera.
Yes, I'm talking about WhatsApp here. You see, WhatsApp has too many features I feel. Statuses, Channels, Community. They might be good for WhatsApp as a company to keep the users engaged but not for me. All of those make no sense or at least their existence needs to be revisited.
Still deserves a solution: Removed all of whose existence doesn't really exist
I removed all of 'em. I believe that introducing events as a breakpoint for broadcasts is relatively more user-centric and more humane. For example, It simply notifies you whose birthday is coming up this week, who's interested, If you wanna plan, create a broadcast, split ideas, payments, tasks. Interesting, right?
