Introduction

Ziva v Parku, a family medical clinic, faced significant challenges with its outdated website. Patients reported difficulty locating vital information, such as announcements regarding absent doctors and their working hours. Additionally, there was a pressing need to integrate a direct link to a new appointment system established by the local government. This case study outlines the research, design process, and solutions implemented to enhance the user experience of the clinic's website.

Problem Statement

The primary issues identified were:
Accessibility of Information: Users struggled to find announcements about doctors who were absent and their working hours.
Appointment Booking: There was no direct link to the new appointment system, which hindered patient access to scheduling services.

Research Methodology

To address these challenges, a comprehensive research approach was undertaken:
Competitive Analysis: The first step involved examining other clinics' websites to identify best practices and features that enhance user experience.
User Feedback: Patients were distributed a questionnaire to gather insights on their needs and expectations for the website. This feedback was instrumental in understanding user priorities, such as the importance of easily accessible news and working hours.

Solution Development

Based on the research findings, a design mockup was created to improve the website's usability. Key features included:
Enhanced Navigation: The design prioritized easy access to announcements and news, ensuring users could quickly find relevant information.
Contact Information and Working Hours: A dedicated section prominently displayed contact details and working hours, reducing users' time searching for this information.
Appointment System Integration: A direct link to the new appointment system was incorporated, streamlining the patient booking process.

Prototyping and Testing

After finalizing the design mockups, a prototype was developed and tested with five users from the clinic. The usability tests focused on the following tasks:
Finding news and announcements
Locating working hours
Sending a message through contact forms
Booking an appointment
Results: Four out of five users completed all tasks without issues. One user encountered difficulties with the booking system developed by a third-party company, indicating a need for further investigation into that integration.

Challenges Faced

The redesign process was not without its challenges:
Stakeholder Alignment: Ensuring the layout and design met stakeholders' expectations required numerous meetings and discussions. This collaborative effort was crucial in reaching a consensus on the final design.
Content Development: The clinic's existing copy did not align with the new design. To overcome this, I engaged with the clinic to better understand their messaging and created a draft copy that was later refined and integrated with their existing content.

Conclusion

The Ziva v Parku clinic website redesign significantly improved user experience by addressing patients' primary concerns. The enhanced navigation and integration of the appointment system facilitated more accessible access to critical information, ultimately leading to greater patient satisfaction. The collaborative approach with stakeholders and users ensured that the final product met the clinic's and patient's needs.

Poll Results

To further validate the effectiveness of the redesign, a poll was conducted among users after the launch of the new website. The results indicated a positive reception:
Ease of Finding Information: 80% of users found locating announcements and working hours easier.
Satisfaction with Appointment Booking: 75% of users reported satisfaction with the new appointment booking process.
Overall Experience: 85% of users were satisfied with the new website design.
This case study demonstrates the importance of user-centered design in creating effective digital solutions in healthcare settings.
