because before they try somewhere new, they’re really asking two things:

is it good? does it match my vibe?

if your app needs explanation, onboarding should happen first. users shouldn’t have to create an account to understand what they’re gettin

first, show the promise. then, explain the flow. then, ask them to commit.

this makes signup feel like the next step, not the first obstacle.
