Where do you get your inspiration from? One of my favourite places is designreviewed.com. They have an incredible archive of magazine covers from every decade since the 1910s, among so many other fantastic historical references and resources. It's always a valuable challenge to recreate older design work using modern software, and I spent this morning designing a poster inspired by a 1980s Leo Lionni featured cover work. I don't think you can ever really emulate true paper texture digitally, but you definitely can get close! Here's a little timelapse of my process in Photoshop, and some pics of the final poster (my reference is at the end). Let me know what you think!

designreviewed.com just went straight into my bookmarks, thanks for that. Do you set aside dedicated time to dig through archives like that, or is it more of a rabbit hole you fall into mid-project?

100% a rabbit hole!! I do check have a bunch of design archives I go to when I'm feeling a bit creatively stuck though (the sainsbury's archive is another good one).

I hadn't come across that one before, I'll check it out! I often use pinterest and behance, but it's too easy to get stuck in endless scrolling with them

yess and I'm finding that the quality is kinda going over time on pinterest - although that might be because I use it less often now and therefore have a less well-curated feed.
