I would actually have voted for the multi-colors if it wasn't for that dark option that just doesn't look cohesive and throws off the balance of the overall image. I think if the palette is revised, the multi-color has such a fun travel vibe.
Ouu good feedback! Always love hearing other perspectives. I totally get the maroon throwing off the palette! I wanted to incorporate a colour that embodied Bordeaux and was a grounding hue that could be an alternate to black.
I think it works absolutely perfectly as an alternative for black - I can definitely see the inspiration! I just wouldn't have made two not-black (as I always think of these colors in my palettes) icon fill choices amongst this set. It might be interesting if there were a bridge...
This one is so tough, I like them both so much. I'd say the first just bc it's easy to stay consistent with this one. Then if you had to branch out with color you could simply change the background.

Nocturne is a self-initiated fragrance house I built from the ground up, treated with the same process I'd bring to any client: strategy first, then design.
The brief was familiar: a fragrance inspired by the city after dark. Most fragrance branding solves that with common approaches such as moonlight, mystery, or gold foil details. I wanted to solve it with something more specific: what does after dark actually look like in an urban environment? Concrete, streetlight, wet pavement, the quiet stretch between one train and the next.
That question shaped everything downstream. An archetype chosen deliberately against category convention, Creator and Explorer rather than the more expected Lover or Magician. A material-first approach to the bottle and packaging. Sandblasted glass, a textured concrete-like cap, no gold, no ornament. And a running checklist I held every decision against throughout the project.
The case study covers the strategy behind Nocturne, not just the finished system: positioning, personality, the reasoning behind each material and typography choice, and how those decisions translated into the bottle, packaging, and campaign work.
I'd love to hear what you think, especially if you enjoy seeing the thinking behind a visual identity as much as the final result.
The soft bevels and controlled shadowing give the mark a convincing physical presence without muddying the silhouette. The coral-on-indigo palette also makes the icon pop beautifully.
