I design for the problem, not the surface. What pulls me is intuitive UX that takes a real pain off a real person. My heart is in helping people, and I've learned that UX alone never gets there. Business, technology, go-to-market all decide as much of the outcome as the interface does, so I try to design with every one of them in the room.

I came to design from an engineering background, and I've spent the years since chasing one instinct: find the real user or the real lever beneath the brief, the driver behind the merchant or the black box behind the feature, and design for that. I've been the only designer at a fifty-person startup and a founding designer at a venture studio building from zero. The work has stayed the same. Design that serves.
