You don`t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them

The problem

Short content changes our behavior in consuming information.

When was the last time you read a book? Perhaps some of you cannot recall. You may argue that reading a book takes a lot of time and requires high concentration, requiring a dedicated time slot. You may even prefer to watch TikTok videos, Instagram reels, and YouTube shorts in your free time, as you believe they take up less time. However, this unintentionally alters the manner in which we process information, even when reading books. We tend to prefer short, concise information.

Research

I conducted interviews with 2 people and a survey with 12 people.

How come short content is such a hit with people?

The problem triggered the formation of ideas.

According to surveys, most people primarily engage with audio platforms such as podcasts or audiobooks.

Imagine who I would be designing for

Ideate

Let`s clarify the business.

We want to create a place where users can find all major books in Indonesia Bookstore.
The audiobook will be planned to tie up with the writer and published on our own
The target users are gen-z and millennials in Indonesia
We are planning to launch in Bahasa
Targeting of general books reader and podcast listeners
We plan to have pay-per-book and also subscription

How can we create an audio platform that provides an experience similar to reading a book?

So, let's define what kind of experience we have while reading a book :
Regrettably, some experiences cannot be enjoyed in audio format. However, we can address this issue by enabling users to read and listen to content simultaneously. To improve this experience, it is crucial to include a feature that enables users to read the contents of the audiobook currently being played.

Logo

Derived from the Latin word "sonorus," meaning "full of sound" or "resonant," "Sonore" encapsulates the essence of your audiobook app's purpose – to provide a rich and immersive sound experience through the medium of literature. The name elegantly marries the world of audio and reading, bridging two realms of content consumption that your app offers.

Symbolism

Audio Fusion: The prefix "Son-" suggests sound or audio, which is at the core of audiobooks. It represents the auditory element of your app, symbolizing the captivating voices, ambient sounds, and engaging narration that users will encounter.
Literary Connection: The suffix "-ore" alludes to the world of literature and reading. It draws a subtle connection to the written word and the act of storytelling, emphasizing the app's focus on transforming written content into an auditory experience.

Logo Meaning

Crop Circle: We strive to make two key impressions using crop circles regarding our audiobooks. The first is to showcase the high-quality sound that our audiobooks offer. We understand that sound quality is essential to creating an enjoyable experience for listeners, so we use crop circles to emphasize this aspect of our audiobooks. The second impression we aim to make is to create a sense of quietness and calm. Using crop circles to depict a tranquil outside world, we can help users enjoy our audiobook content without being distracted by external noises and disruptions. Incorporating crop circles into our audiobooks will provide users with an exceptional listening experience.
Gradient Color: Our audiobook features soothing color gradients that create a calming atmosphere and help users focus on the content. We understand that distractions can be a part of daily life, so we use these gradients to promote concentration and keep users engaged with our audiobook content.
Small Crop Circle: We're thrilled to share that our audiobook features a clever small crop circle design that represents our users. This thoughtful design lets our listeners enjoy uninterrupted content without external distractions. We understand that every listener has their own unique preferences and requirements when it comes to audiobooks. That's why using small crop circles aims to provide an exceptional listening experience for all our users. We're confident that you'll love it!

My fascination with developing a mobile Audiobook application was sparked by the shift in customer behavior when consuming books.
