Taking The Big Risk

There is a quote I love by Jen Sincero "You are totally kicking ass because you decided to go for it instead of sitting around in your own excuses." Imagine if you just went for it, you just started writing the book, you just applied for the loan to open that business, you just went to school to learn the new skill. Life is filled with endless opportunities and the fun fact is that people believe it isn't. People who are small minded or just too comfortable in their comfort zone, believe there are limited opportunities in this world. For some people they operate out of their limiting beliefs, so they believe they are closed off to certain opportunities life has to offer.
What I love most about this lifetime is the endless opportunities God has created for us, the different pathways, different choices, you can choose between an iced coffee and regular coffee. Imagine the first person who made an ice coffee didn’t? Ugh I would totally be a different person this present time because I truly love ice coffee. That person had to step out of their intuition and take the step in putting their taste bud desires to the test. Sometimes we just need to take a new approach to what we're doing, and gain new hindsight to everything that is around us daily.
I have been using this quote from “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill “What you think you will become” but adding biblical scripture to it “You see not so you believe not.” That is the truth about people of today’s world, people live their lives according to everything they see, instead of having ultimate faith in God and the universe and all that was created for us. Just because you do not see a million dollars does not mean it does not exist or it is not possible for you to obtain, truth is there are many millionaires out in the world. It is not an opportunity that is for one only, but for those who believe it is achievable. Jen Sincero say’s “When taking a new approach we have to say “I just want to see if i can start my own successful business, I just want to see if i can get myself out of debt, I just want to see if I can make $100,000 dollars this year.”
Scripture tells us “I can do all things through Christ that gives me strength.” Why do we continue to limit our abilities that God created us with? Why do we limit our God who created all creation to a small box of what's in our comfort zone? Everything we wish to accomplish in life requires walking by faith, taking the risk, and thinking bigger than what our small eye vision can see. It begins with our mindset, we have to start with the question “what perspective do we hold toward the different opportunities the world offers?” Jen Sincero says “Take the pressure off and get back on the adventure.”
I love that statement because the truth is life is an ongoing adventure. We change just as much as the seasons do, and with that comes the many opportunities life has to offer. We need to start operating out of the belief that everything that happens in life is for a reason, both good and bad. Life is an adventure that requires you to be content with learning. Everything we go through in life is a learning experience, life is about experiences, and experiences= adventure.
We will be faced with hardships, failures of different kinds, but what if our approach is not that it was a failure? But instead shift our perspective to “That was not meant for me” or “It is not the right timing” or “I need to learn and master more of this skill.” I believe Jen was onto something big here when she said that because it is a game changer. When we can think about the things we are pursuing as an adventure instead of pressuring ourselves to think it is life or death.
As I stated earlier God created multiple pathways and directions we can head in life. It isn’t that you failed at doing something but maybe you need to take a different path to get to the end goal. When I first started looking into publication options for my first book, I had one thought in mind and that was traditional publishing. You have to find the literacy agent, they help you find the publisher, and so on. When I started researching I became fond of the new self-publishing option, it’s quick and easy to get your book out there. After I decided I would try the self-publishing option, I realized I was in charge of doing all the marketing myself, which I am no expert at.
After my launch I did not reach the sales goal I had planned and immediately thoughts of “I failed” came to my mind. I began to doubt my author dreams and writing career and began to sink into my limiting beliefs. If it wasn’t for the mindset work I do religiously, I would have given up my dreams. This brought me back to the thoughts of how there are different directions we can go in our life to accomplish our goals. It is amazing how all roads do not lead to the same place. Imagine if the highways you took daily only kept taking you to the same place, well that would be frustrating.
You may be traveling from Pennsylvania to New York but instead the road does not seem to get you to your destination. Life is the same process, there are many ways we can make 100,000 dollars, or start our business. There is a Tik Tok guy who goes around rich home areas and knocks on their door asking them what they do for a living? Every person responds with a different career. Each and every one of those people did different things to achieve their big beautiful mansions. What helps us navigate through the change of the “There is only one way to do this”, is knowing the truth about our creation. God created everyone of us uniquely and distinctly, that no human being is the same. Many people may have the same careers, jobs, goals and dreams, but how they accomplish it will always be different because our life journey was created differently.
So today I leave you with a couple of questions I would like you to ask yourself,
-What are my beliefs around my goals?
-Am I trying to only take one pathway to reach my end goal?
-What can I begin doing to shift the way I think?
-What risk can I start taking to work toward something I desire?
If you would like more information on limiting beliefs, how to trace their origin, and steps you can take to overcome them. Check out the “Identifying & Killing our Limiting Beliefs” episode on Growing Flowers From our Grave podcast on spotify.
