Trusting The Process of Creating

I think the most overlooked concept of our human creation is the fact that we were simply created to create. No matter what talent or gift one has, we all have the power to create. Intentionally and unintentionally we are always releasing creativity into the world. What gives us the power to create? the answer is simple yet complex, our minds. The mind is the most powerful part of our body and truth be told so many people are unaware of this truth. Every thought we think is a part of creation.
As a writer, I sometimes struggle to believe I am creating something because I try to set limits and specifications on creating. If it doesn’t look book worthy I don’t acknowledge the creation. If the content does not seem good enough I call it a waste of time. The truth is that it is all a process of creating. Creation has no limits, and being in the creating process comes more natural than we think. It is as simple as writing down our thoughts that we created something. Since creation are first thoughts we are creating every minute.
A recent research stated that a person has about 6,200 thoughts per day. That means we created something 6,200 times in a day. The question is not have I created something today? but what have I created today? If we can learn to be more aware of the thoughts we are thinking we have more control over the outcome of our creative process. As I am currently working on my manuscript, I realized to stop being hard on myself for the parts I write that I end up removing because I don’t like it. Instead of thinking negatively about my creation that day I learn to embrace it because it allows me to know what I don’t want apart of my book. It is all apart of the creating process, the good, the bad, the messy.
Becoming more aware of our thoughts open up the playing field to being much bigger. We can begin having a little bit of control over our creating process because we know that everything and thought we put out into the world is good. One of the most popular laws is the law of attraction. In simplest forms, it means peoples thoughts attract similar results. Napoleon Hill describes this more intensively in his best selling book “Think and Grow Rich.” If we can become or attract anything we think, than it is best if we become more aware of what were thinking.
As a full time medical health professional and full time mom of two trying to chase her dreams of becoming a full time writer, it can become challenging to trust the process. It is easy to think negatively and that is why we often think more negative than positive. If we know our thoughts hold so much power I think it is safe to say we need to start putting up a fight in our head. As a writer it is easy to get discouraged, truth be told not everyone makes it to the big league of being a published author, or being a full time writer. Depending on everyone's unique life, most writers still need to work a full-time job.
This can cause us to believe our process is not working, we become discouraged and self-conscious of our work, we start to believe the lies in our head that we are not good enough, which then leads to us directing our process to go downhill. For me when I think about my writing and creating process and the outcomes I learned that a lot of the negative outcomes came by my own doing. I allowed my negative thinking to create negative outcomes. So what if I already received 10 rejection letters, there were still more agents I could query. So what if I did not reach my word count goal for today could I not just write more tomorrow to make up for it.
Our thinking during the process has such a huge impact toward the outcome. We need to learn to trust the process. Which means not overthinking, not questioning everything we do “will this work?” “Is this good enough?” “Will this agent like my proposal?” we need to let go and simply live in the being. Be positive thinking about our process and our creations and believing that everything always works out for our good. Today I am putting this process to practice, that as I send out query letters to agents whatever outcome happens is for my good. That I am still in alignment with creation by thinking positive and taking inspired action.
I hope today you think about your creating process, what good and bad has been happening in your process? what changes can you make? how can you choose to start trusting your process?
