HR Compliance Audit: Multi-Site Healthcare

The Challenge

A growing multi-site healthcare organization had built its HR processes reactively over time. Policies were created in isolation, onboarding varied by location, and ownership of critical workforce steps had become unclear. The result: inconsistent practices, duplicated work, and increasing risk that hiring, payroll, documentation, or compliance requirements would be missed.
They needed someone to step back, assess the full picture, and build a practical path forward.

My Approach

I treated this as both a compliance review and a process-improvement initiative. Rather than auditing individual documents in isolation, I mapped the entire employee lifecycle and examined how HR, management, payroll, compliance, and operations interacted at each stage.
Key areas of work:
Reviewed HR policies, forms, and employee documentation
Assessed onboarding and personnel-file practices across multiple locations
Identified compliance gaps and operational risks in hiring, classification, and documentation workflows
Established clearer approval and accountability points
Standardized processes across locations
Developed a prioritized corrective-action roadmap
Provided implementation guidance to leadership

The Deliverables

Comprehensive compliance and process gap analysis
Standardized onboarding and personnel-file checklists
Communication templates for key HR workflows
Corrective-action roadmap prioritized by risk level and organizational impact
Clear process-ownership recommendations mapping responsibilities to specific roles
Leadership presentation with findings and recommended next steps

The Outcome

The organization moved from fragmented, location-dependent HR practices to a consistent and transparent operating structure. Leaders gained clearer visibility into who was responsible for what, and the organization significantly reduced the likelihood of missed onboarding, payroll, employee-record, and compliance steps.
This project reflects how I work: look beyond the surface-level HR issues, identify the underlying process weaknesses, and build practical systems that support compliance, accountability, and sustainable growth.
