Desperate Saint is a streamer and content creator over on Twitch (and he's currently taking a well deserved hiatus from streaming after the birth of his son).

I worked with him to redesign his stream package, including branding and what his stream scenes look like. He wanted a dive bar aesthetic and that's exactly what he got. I boiled down the busy dive bar look to a simplified, stream-friendly look that makes you want to sit down with a pint and enjoy the gameplay!

To make that dive bar feel come to life in a simplified manner, it came down to two main elements: typography and some good ol' brickwork. The black brickwork as a backdrop created the base for which to build off of, and I had fun tastefully combining some great fonts for the logo and stream package.

Dive bars have lots of signage strewn about, from menus and license plates bolted to the wall to neon signs casting colourful glows upon the establishment's patrons. The scenes mix distressed typography with the blue and magenta glow to tell the story of a dive bar without the complexity.

Saint's favourite colours are orange and blue, so I was more that happy to bring those colours to the forefront.

Being a gamer, Saint's stream is mainly focused on the gameplay, so it was important not to have too many overlays that covered up the screen. There's the section for his webcam with a simple border and a transparent box underneath for stream labels containing recent followers, subscribers, etc.

A scheduled pop-up banner for his Rogue Energy partner code pops up for a few seconds on a timer, otherwise the rest of the screen is left for the gameplay itself

While the graphics are kept to a minimum for the main game scene, the chatting scene is an opportunity to lean into embellishing the dive bar aesthetic. I created a poster with his Rogue Energy partner code, included stickers from some of his favourite things and even added in his own set of beer taps!

His webcam is situated as the TV on the wall, and wood textures are utilized to create a sense of sitting at the bar and hanging out with him.
