Vista - Brand & UI Design

Vista is an independent project that features a travel application allowing users to explore breathtaking sceneries around their locations! The users can browse through different landmarks and plan trips to visit the destination directly on the app; the app also contains a feature that allows users to pick their favorite weather and time of day to travel in order to give the best recommendations for sceneries.

As it is a solo project, I was responsible for creating all the assets such as logo, branding guidelines, interface design, and interactive prototype independently. It took around 6 months to fully complete and it took home a Gold Award at the 46th CADC Annual Awards Show along with other outstanding interactive design achievements after it was exhibited.

Due to the lack of experience in creating a travel application, a significant amount of research and user research was required. Through the process, I was able to identify a few outstanding issues with popular travel apps like TripAdvisor, Hopper, and Expedia including the lack of a scenery-centric app and the unattractive user interface. Through interviews, I learned what the users want in a travel app and implemented the feedback into Vista as I created the user flow.

In the process of creating an effective and dynamic prototype that gives users a memorable experience, it became apparent that the static prototype flow design was not enough to convey the efficiency and uniqueness of Vista nor did it match the overall app aesthetic. To combat this, I incorporated extensive motion design into the prototype to not only give the application personality but also engage the users in a more intuitive experience as they navigate through Vista.
