THE WHAT

Imagine a digital wallet that not only helps you transact seamlessly across 100+ networks but pays you back for gas fees. That’s STELLO. The first on-chain non-custodial wallet designed to refund your gas fees, support major EVM networks, and offer a gamified experience through exclusive rewards called Orbs.

STELLO takes the hassle out of the Web3 world, giving users a reason to enjoy every transaction. Just like solving a case, each move brings you closer to rewards.
As the lead UI/UX designer, I was tasked with creating an intuitive, user-centered interface for both the app and landing page to maximize user engagement and highlight the unique features of Stello.

THE WHY

Like any great detective case, STELLO’s creation was inspired by a growing problem: the mysterious disappearance of users’ funds due to skyrocketing gas fees. Many wallets in the crypto space, like MetaMask and Trust Wallet, are content to let users fend for themselves in this treacherous landscape. But not STELLO.
The goal? Solve the gas fee dilemma and provide users with an all-in-one wallet experience that not only saves money but offers rewards through Orbs and zero-fee transactions. We sought to create something groundbreaking, empowering users across all major EVM networks with a solution that respects their privacy and offers tangible benefits.

THE HOW

Every good investigation starts with research. Who are our users? What pain points are they facing? How do they perceive gas fees? We needed answers.
User Research: We conducted in-depth interviews and surveys with crypto enthusiasts, both casual users and high-frequency traders. Their frustrations were clear:
Gas Fees: Everyone hates paying high fees.
Cross-Chain Transactions: Complex and intimidating for the average user.
Security Concerns: Users needed assurance that their privacy was being respected.
Based on these insights, I crafted a seamless, gamified experience that revolved around Orbs—our unique rewards system that refunds gas fees and keeps users engaged through daily bonuses. Each feature was designed to ensure that users felt they were making the most of their crypto without the typical headaches.

RESEARCH METHODS

To get to the heart of the users’ needs, we conducted a comprehensive user research plan. We scheduled 26 participants for interviews across Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet calls, focusing on the following objectives:
Who are the users? Understanding their demographic and crypto experience levels.
What do they require? What pain points do they have with current wallets?
How do they currently execute transactions? We observed the way they navigate wallets and handle gas fees.
What are their thoughts on STELLO's unique concept? Gathering feedback on features like Orbs and fee refunds to gauge excitement or skepticism.
This approach allowed us to truly uncover the core needs of users interacting with blockchain technology, ensuring STELLO would solve their most pressing issues.in objectives

INTERVIEW INSIGHTS

From our interviews, we gathered these key insights:
65% of participants were aged 23-31 years.
15% of participants were between 32-40 years.
20% were over 40 years old.

KEY MOTIVATORS

Several motivators emerged from our research, giving us a clear picture of what users truly value when using wallets like STELLO:
Gas Fee Rebates: The idea of receiving 100% gas fee refunds was a huge draw, with most users stating it would significantly improve their experience.
Cross-Chain Support: Users wanted to interact seamlessly across multiple EVM networks. The ability to move assets across 100+ blockchains was a must-have feature.
Orbs as Rewards: Many users were excited about the concept of Orbs and gamification elements like daily spins, adding a fun, interactive layer to their daily crypto use.
Privacy and Security: Users stressed the need for privacy and encryption, particularly those aged 32-40, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding their data and assets.
Fee-Free Swaps: Users found the fee-free swap feature compelling, especially those who regularly trade between cryptocurrencies. The idea of maximizing their assets without incurring additional fees was a key selling point.
By focusing on these motivators, STELLO was positioned to not just meet but exceed user expectations, offering them an innovative and rewarding way to manage their digital assets.

EDUCATION & EMPOWERMENT

One challenge we tackled was educating users about gas fees and their importance in the Web3 space. While complex, we demystified these issues with tooltips, in-app guidance, and the STELLO Hub—a resource center with articles and tutorials on crypto transactions, privacy, and maximizing Orbs.

THE RESULT & LEARNING

This project allowed us to gain valuable insights into designing for users new to Web3 while catering to those already seasoned in the space. By focusing on user goals—such as refunds, seamless transactions, and privacy—we designed a wallet that’s not just a tool but an experience.
