THE CHALLENGE

How do you make history not feel like an old dusty book? By creating a vivid, interactive journey that takes users back to 1975 — a year that shook the African continent in all the best ways. From independence celebrations to political showdowns, my goal was to craft a digital time machine that’s as engaging as a great Netflix binge.

RESEARCH ADVENTURES

To design this masterpiece, I dove headfirst into 1975’s most impactful events:
Independence Galore: Angola, Mozambique, and Cape Verde broke free.
The Green March: Morocco's peaceful push for the Western Sahara.
Unity at OAU: Leaders gathered in Kampala to shape Africa's future.
I made sure every detail was historically accurate but also visually compelling — because why not learn in style?

TARGET AUDIENCE

For curious minds, history buffs, and those who love a good story. This design isn’t just for readers — it’s for explorers.

DESIGN BLUEPRINT

Imagine a homepage that’s alive with flags — each one a gateway to a country’s epic moment in 1975. Click a flag and bam! You’re zooming into an interactive story filled with animated maps, timelines, and visuals that pop.
Homepage: A vibrant, clickable map of Africa with fluttering flags. Each click takes you on a unique historical journey.
Event Pages: Dynamic storytelling with timelines that slide, maps that move, and details that dazzle.

PROTOTYPE

I whipped up an interactive prototype that let users hop from country to country like a 1975 globetrotter. Animations? Check. Smooth transitions? Double check. An experience that makes you say, "I didn't know history could be this fun!" — mission accomplished.
