Four (4) things to Know Before Starting Your Cake Business.

Thinking of starting your own cake business? Okay. Here are 4 things I think you should know before starting;
The right class;
Before you start your cake business officially, take a cake class. I know information can be gotten everywhere and there is YouTube and all, but trust me you don’t want to start your “commercial” baking with only knowledge gotten from YouTube. So sign up to a cake class. Take that course. Not only does it teach you how to bake, but it also gives you a platform and foundation to run your baking business. Most courses also offer post mentorship privileges and take me up on my word, you need it. You also get to meet other beginners like you in the same industry and that can offer an ample amount of support even after your course. You also get to gain knowledge for someone who has been in the business longer and has better experience. They share a working recipe with you and other information. So find a class that best suits your needs and has credibility and join in.
Cake tools ;
We are in an era where there is a hack for everything and honestly most of them work. Now hacks are good but tools are better. If you are venturing into commercial baking, let no one deceive you, tools are essential. You see all those beautiful and neat cakes you see? Those were achieved using the right tools. I know as a beginner you may not have the finances to buy all the tools you need, (and sincerely there is no such thing as “all the tools you need” because the list never stops) but invest in as many as possible and get quality so they last. Also know what you need because as a beginner there are certain cake designs you may not yet be able to handle, hence know the tools that best suit your needs at every point. During your cake course, your handler can share common beginner cake tools with you as a guide.
Social media;
Yes!! Social media is everything these days. They are the best platforms to market your brand. So if you don’t have one strat creating accounts, and if you are not a social media person like me, you might have to seek the help of a professional social media handler for your page. Social media and pictures go hand in hand. Again “tools” get tools to help you take better pictures and Videos of your work, you might want to invest in good lights and props. You don’t want your cakes looking like they were made in the 80’s.
Consistency;
Last but not the least, be Consistent. It’s not going to be easy, so be ready to be persistent and consistent. You will get some bad reviews and rude clients, be consistent. There are days when you won’t have a single order and days when you’ll have too many, be Consistent. It may not seem easy at first, but keep going, be Consistent. Over time you just may have a globally recognized brand. You’ve got this!!
