There have been significant challenges in the South China Sea regarding China’s territory versus the Philippines for years. However, in recent years, it has become more of a problem. As a result, people are beginning to see some of the challenges that might arise shortly and whether or not the United States will win in a fight for the South China Sea and peace for the region.
Some people might believe that America would easily win the South China Sea, but you must consider the facts. America is significantly far away from the South China Sea, and China has a massive presence over this entire region. The South China Sea has been a significant area for a plethora of different naval ships and other destroyers that the Chinese have left there as a protection effort to keep their territory, and potentially even to take over the island of Taiwan, a sovereign nation and apart from China.
No matter how people might imagine the future of the South China Sea crisis, it’s impossible to imagine that it would end peacefully. Instead, it will likely break out into a shooting war, and there will be missiles, destroyers, and other weapons that continue to fight for the territory the Chinese are attempting to protect. Even with a plethora of different American naval ships, or the recent treaty between Australia and the United Kingdom, there is a significant disadvantage: China has always had a significant presence here and has a larger navy compared to that of the United States.
Whether or not America would win this shooting war, they would likely lose. There’s a very fair chance that they would not win this battle. The capacity of the Chinese navy and the proximity to the territory in the South China Sea allow China a significant leg up on American soldiers. This would leave America disadvantaged and potentially allow this crisis to be easy for China to secure this territory and eventually dominate over the entire southeast Asia region.
There are some possible situations in which America would win. However, this would take a significant amount of development for the navy, their ships within the South China Sea more critical than in the past, and a concentrated effort of allies and America fighting against this Chinese invasion. In short, it would likely enter into a war, and after that, if America had prepared properly, they might have a fighting chance against China in the South China Sea crisis.
