Arden Students' Association, created by students, for students

Founded in 2021 and led entirely by students, the Association exists to empower, champion, and represent. From influencing university decisions to supporting students through the hard parts of academic life - they're the democratic layer between the individual and the institution.
Challange
Arden is a digital-first university. No campus, no common room, no notice boards. That creates a unique problem - how do you build a sense of community and representation for students who never physically meet?
The existing platform wasn't doing enough:
No clear user journeys for students trying to find support, raise concerns, or get involved
A visual identity that felt generic - nothing that said "this was built for you"
No design system, making consistency across pages impossible to maintain
A structure that buried the most important content students actually needed
The challenge wasn't just visual. It was about making a digital-only students' association feel real, accessible, and worth engaging with.

Outcome

The project delivered more than a redesigned website. It gave the association a foundation to grow on.
A discovery phase that mapped real student needs and surfaced where the old experience was failing
Clear user flows built around the moments that matter - finding advice, raising a concern, getting elected
A dedicated design system that lets the team maintain consistency without needing a designer in the room
A website that finally feels like it was made for students, not just about them
For an organisation that exists entirely online, the design is the experience. Now it holds up.
