Digital-First Visual Identity for Geração Agora

Maria

Maria Abraão

Geração Agora is a youth-led think tank focused on research, policy discussion, and civic engagement. Their mission is to empower young voices and transform ideas into meaningful social impact.
This project was a challenge to balance two worlds — the institutional and intellectual side of a think tank, and the fresh, energetic, and forward-thinking spirit of youth.

📋 1. The Brief

The briefing aimed to create a visual identity that would combine credibility and innovation, appealing both to young audiences and decision-makers.
The requested tone was contemporary, minimal, confident, and intelligent — without being overly corporate or too playful. Although the client suggested dark green as the main color, I decided to take a different direction to better express energy, urgency, and presence — the essence of “Agora”, which in Portuguese means “Now.”

💡 2. Logo Concept

The logo captures the essence of the think tank’s dual nature: thinking and acting.
At its core lies the “G” with a small bar below, designed to work as an abstract exclamation mark (!) — symbolizing voice, urgency, and active participation. It also functions as an independent icon, adaptable for digital use and social media. The word “AGORA” sits inside a rectangular gradient field, emphasizing the now — a spotlight of the present moment, calling attention to movement, progress, and transformation.

🎨 2. Visual System – Color & Typography

The identity combines vibrant gradients with deep black, balancing youthful energy and institutional depth. The yellow-to-magenta gradient reflects movement and transformation, while black adds credibility and focus. Typography pairs Bebas Neue Bold with Manrope, creating a clean and modern contrast that reinforces clarity, strength, and digital presence.

💻 3. Applications & Outcome

Designed primarily for digital environments, the identity is modular, scalable, and impactful. It adapts seamlessly across social media, documents, and institutional materials while maintaining consistency and energy.
The result is a bold, digital-first identity that gives voice to a generation that not only thinks — but acts, now.
This project challenged me on a conceptual level and taught me a lot about design communication. The biggest lesson came from the client: they began with a clear expectation and a specific visual direction, but through my creative process I was able to show that their initial idea didn’t fully serve the project’s purpose. It reminded me that design is not just about following a brief — it’s about guiding it toward what truly communicates the message.
