De La Terra pa la Mesa is a national cultural project promoting the gastronomy and heritage of Miranda do Douro (Portugal). The goal was to create a visual identity that celebrates local culinary traditions while being versatile enough for digital, print, and experiential applications
The Concept 🎯
The logo is inspired by the cutelo (cleaver), a central tool in preparing Mirandesa beef, symbolizing the region’s gastronomic roots. The typography was designed to feel handcrafted and rustic, reflecting the authenticity and heritage of Miranda’s culinary culture.
Shapes and patterns throughout the identity reference the earth, representing the origin of local ingredients, and fire, the essential element for cooking the region’s dishes 🔥🌱. Additional inspiration came from traditional Miranda do Douro costumes, which influenced subtle patterns and visual motifs incorporated into the branding.
Colors & Typography 🎨✍️
The color palette draws from the rich hues of Miranda’s culture: earthy browns and vibrant oranges, conveying warmth, vitality, and energy. Typography is handcrafted, with a rustic feel to anchor the project in its cultural roots while remaining legible across applications.
Applications & Impact 🔄🌟
The identity extends across multiple touchpoints: social media content, mock-ups, merchandise, and various promotional actions highlighting the region’s gastronomy. It connects the authenticity of the land with the culinary experience and gives the project a coherent, visually engaging presence.

Conclusion / Reflection 💡
This project was an invaluable lesson in exploring the essence and roots of each project. Capturing the soul of Miranda’s culture and translating it into a dynamic, meaningful visual identity was a rewarding challenge and an experience that enriched my approach to design.
