For the indie game MoonXrossed Princess (link below!), I have designed quests and written plenty of dialogue! The narrative is branching and the ending is heavily affected by the player's choices.
In one section of the game (in development) the protagonist will accept a quest called Sweet, Sweet Letters. At some point of the latter, she will be forced to improvise in a play to save the career of an actress, left by her way-too-in-love colleague.
I have written a sequence with timed dialogue options, whose content is presented with just a keyword to convey the protagonist's pressure of improvising. The result is a light-hearted, unpredictable conversation that subtly jokes about tragic tropes and Classical theatre.
