Fast Bite offers a comprehensive order management system, empowering its clients to efficiently handle their ordering website, incoming orders, and backend records. However, their current solution has remained stagnant for over a decade. As a result, Fast Bite entrusted us with the responsibility of revamping all three components of their system. Our goal was to craft a seamless and enhanced experience for their clients' users, elevating their overall efficiency and satisfaction.

Research

Due to the size and scope of the project, this was the largest project I worked on while working with Stack Blue. Being a system made up of 3 separate parts, I needed to make sure that I was using my resources correctly, meaning that I needed to practice my project management skills to a T here.

Problem Statement

As an owner of multiple restaurants, I need a way to provide a more efficient way for my staff to manage incoming orders and records so that they might enhance overall operational productivity.

Customer ordering platform

Because of the size of the project I decided to use the ordering site portion of the project to gather my thoughts and connect the dots. This portion of the project was simple, update the overall design and offer up information to each clients customers in each part of their process. I went about simplifying the information shown to users ordering. I also provided each user with a less redundant and cumbersome way to track past orders and account information.

Staff OMS

Next, I needed to offer the kitchen staff an efficient way to track incoming orders while keeping up with the possible fast pace that might occur on busy nights. It occurred to me that many restaurants utilize tablets and large screens, this provided an opportunity for me to provide visual cues to staff to allow them to glance at statuses and keep moving. I did this by providing status lights on each order, each order would be highlighted with colors to match status lights. If a staff member needed to open an order for more information, they would be met with large buttons for ease and speed, and large cards for easy viewing of info. Analytics would also be provided to help higher level staff track restaurant info.

Owner RMS

The final portion of the OMS system provides owners with a way to manage analytics and order information across multiple restaurants. In my research I noticed a lot of redundancies across pages and menu systems hosting large list that could be simplified. The new system allowed owners to keep an eye on order and single restaurants

Project Takeaways

I don't feel that two months provided enough time to find solutions for every issue in these systems. Provided more time, I would have liked to have conducted initial user testing and interviews with the current systems, as well as usability testing after the overhauls.
