Resion specializes in offering supply chain solutions for difficult to acquire components catering to the military, aerospace, defense, and commercial sectors. With a vision to serve their clients better, Resion aimed to create a mobile app to complement their services by translating their current desktop website into a mobile-friendly platform

"I know that you are kind of new to logistics, but I want you to take the lead on this one"

The starting point

Research

After conducting research about Resion and their offerings, I found that industrial and medical industries are struggling with rapid turns in technology. OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturers) will discontinue items with little preparation and not alternate solution for form, fit and function. Resion provides their clients with a way to source these highly needed items.

Competitive analysis

Because of the specific nature of what Resion does they have very few competitors. This aspect made it very difficult to find information on their competitors. Due to the short timeline I was given for this project, i was forced to move on with what information I could gather about Resions offerings.

Problem Statement

As a supplier, how can we offer our clients a way to easily manage their supply inventory, so that they might continue to focus on their main mission.

Lofi Insights

A potential solution for Resion's clients would be to offer a way to make a profile and track inventory (for ordering client) across month or year, compare this information with new data, and let ordering client know if they are or close to holding zero demand materials in inventory(items being discontinued). It also occurred to me, that by providing premade kits in app for most ordered parts packages notifications for new "kits" based on past inventory of an ordering client, Resion could streamline not only the ordering process, but also lessen the time on task for the inventory process for clients.

Hifi insights

Something else I took notice of while researching was that Resion's menu system had a lot of items; the menu system also held a lot of redundancies. I knew this would not translate well over to a mobile product and knowing that the scope of project meant providing a simple process for Resion's clients, my solution to this was to hoist the most important links over to the products menu system.

Project Takeaways

For industries that usually have complicated processes for sourcing any kind of inventory item, providing a simplistic process became the overall goal for this project. With more time, I feel that I might be able to dive deeper into what other solutions we might have offered to assist clients with their inventory needs.
