Rusty Spur Band came to me to design them a new logo. They are a country band that also teaches line dancing. Their target audience are young adults to seniors who want to have fun, dance, and enjoy good music.

Rusty Spur Band was moving away from a general logo they made in Canva and wanted something more personalized that would help them stand out. It was important that the logo could be used on merchandise and social media.

What steps did you take to solve this project’s problem? Share your ideas, what you discovered along the way, and what processes you took to arrive at your solution.

After doing some competitor analysis, I made a mood board based on my client's specifications: fun, colorful, music, rustic red, brown, and black. The mood board helps to ensure that we are on the same page for the creative direction.

After getting feedback from my client, I moved forward with this direction and color palette. The next step was to sketch out some logo designs.

These initial sketches were my chance to play around with using imagery associated with country music in new ways to make the band stand out.

After sketching some initial concepts, I quickly made some digital renditions on Canva to see how they looked digitally.

After seeing these concepts digitally I moved into Adobe Illustrator to iterate on 3 concepts. After flushing them out here are the final 3 concepts:

Choosing one concept, I built out a full logo suite with multiple color variations. The client was thrilled with the results and instantly ordered merchandise with the new logos.

This was a very streamlined process where I trusted my instincts to narrow down the examples before showing the client. It worked out great with the client and myself very happy with the final design. I tailor my process to every client I work with and was thrilled with this collaboration.
