A self-initiated website for Alzette, an invented law firm in Luxembourg. Custom design and build: 12 pages, written in English (UK).
The Brief
Alzette is an invented business-law firm in Luxembourg: around 120 lawyers in Kirchberg, working on investment funds, M&A, banking, tax, regulation and disputes.
The person reading the site is a general counsel, a fund CFO or a family-office partner choosing a firm for a fund, an acquisition or a holding structure in Europe. Within a few seconds they need to believe the firm is real, established and discreet.
What I built
A home page that opens on a slow black-and-white film of the city, with the headline set over it.
One practice-areas page with six numbered sections, each with the typical transactions and the partners in charge.
A people list where each partner’s photo follows the cursor, and a profile page for every partner.
Insights: an article list and long-form articles with a reading-progress bar.
A contact page with a drawn map of the district instead of an embedded third-party map.
Design Decisions
A serif for headlines, with italics for emphasis, and a sans-serif for text. A warm grey page, full-width black blocks, and photos and video only in black and white.
No scales of justice, no handshakes, no glass towers. The copy follows the rules lawyers advertise under: no promised results, no rankings and no client testimonials. It is written in British English, with terms like SICAV and RAIF left as the Luxembourg market uses them.
If you run a law firm
Most law-firm websites are interchangeable: the same photos and the same list of services. When clients find you through referrals and reputation, your site is where they check whether the firm looks the part. I design and build that site from scratch, in the English your clients read.
