WACA Interactive Tournament Guide & Design System — Australia & New Zealand Police Cricket Championships, 2024.
What They Came With:
A small member catalogue for a police cricket club grew into a ~150-page brief: schedules, venue profiles, merchandise, rosters, championship rules. WACA had a brand, yellow and black on a custom typeface, but no precedent for a document this size.
Why It Could Not Be Designed Page By Page
Three sections, three completely different content shapes, one five-day clock. A fixtures grid, a photo roster, and a product catalogue had to share one visual grammar or the guide would read as pages stitched together, not one product.
One Repeatable System: Header, Colour, Type, Grid
Four page types with nothing in common on the surface, held together by one header treatment, one colour and type language, and one grid. The only reason a second A5 edition shipped in days, not weeks.
Navigation
A full interactive index linking straight to 13 sections, each one tap away instead of a long scroll mid-match.
Match Schedules
The pages people return to most, usually in a hurry. Clear match-ups, ground assignments, and start times at high contrast, so nothing is missed at a glance.
Venue Pages
Every participating club's story, some with a century behind them, paired with photography of the grounds.
Team Pages
Player photography and short bios for every squad, giving the tournament a human face beyond the fixtures.
Official Merchandise
Product photography against bold typography and pricing, in the same visual system as everything else, so buying reads as part of the guide, not a catalogue bolted to the back.
Championship Rules
A dense reference section, legible and on-brand across dozens of pages of regulation text.
Where It Landed
64 interactive pages became 70–80 for A5 print; together, well over 100 pages, refined down from a ~150-page brief. One page system, everything built out of it.

The client gave one week for a 64-page interactive tournament guide. I built a one-page system, then a matching A5 print edition in 3-4 more days.
