Eduac: Book reader and notebook app

Research, analysis and ideation for a crossplatform educational platform that include mobile apps for students and a robust web app for teachers and educational content creators.

Eduac is an educational project aiming to provide tools to the paperless students and also teachers that want to create interactive books to provide a rich educational experience.

Teachers and students have a wide range of technology at their reach but these tools are not yet paired with software that aids the colaboration needed in the classroom.

So, early on 2019, I started the research and design of the mobile and web apps for Eduac that are until today in development.

With the proper planning, we were able to confidently move into creating wireframes for the app. We took the decision to focus more on the functionality and structure of the app, opting for low-fidelity wireframes with very little detail. Ultimately, we could add design elements in later, what was important for our users, was that the product (above all) was clear and simple.

One major consideration in the design, was to keep a consistent experience between devices, so the web and tablet version keep the same layout.

We also considered, that the user will need to quickly switch between taking notes, reading a book, or finding new books for purchase. Also there is a way to split the screen to view the notes and book in parallel in order to move content to the first one.

The purchasing of new books follow a mobile pattern where you pay for one item at the time, this way eliminating the shopping cart concept.

Finally is worth mentioning that the overall look and feel is playful (without being childish) and relaxed using the color, icons and shapes with the user in mind.

After the creation of the prototype, Eduac's engineers started development of the beta version that continues to evolve every day, taking into consideration new needs from the market and is currently being improved with feedback from potential clients.
