The team calendar separates appointments by professional and keeps split-hour breaks out of availability.
The team calendar separates appointments by professional and keeps split-hour breaks out of availability.
I built 2turno for appointment-based businesses such as salons, beauty studios and tattoo studios. I wanted customers to book from a link and staff to manage the day without having to work around the software.
The first version worked, but too much of its structure reflected how I had built it. The sidebar contained modules a small business would rarely use, and important settings were hard to find. I reorganised it around Today, Calendar, Clients, Services, Team and Settings, making the next appointment and booking link immediately available.
I then worked through situations at the front desk. If someone calls when the day is full, staff need the next available slot or a waiting list. I brought those options into the booking flow and moved the waiting list into the calendar. I also added split opening hours and individual breaks so the app would stop offering times when nobody was available.
Testing uncovered problems that a finished-looking screen had hidden. New online bookings did not give the business a clear notification. An attendance error appeared behind an open appointment panel, making the button seem unresponsive. I corrected the notifications and feedback, restricted attendance actions to the appropriate time, and added automated checks for the fixes.
I developed the visual identity from the numbered ticket used at a counter. Early drawings looked like plain rectangles, so I refined the notches, perforation and number until the ticket worked as a recognisable appointment card. On mobile, I used bottom navigation and grouped available times into morning and afternoon.
Finally, I built a homepage that demonstrates the booking idea with tickets moving into a calendar. I moved the business dashboard to /app while preserving existing links. The full case study records the eight stages, including the versions I changed and the reasons behind them.

I designed and developed 2turno, then reworked its structure, booking logic and feedback around the daily work of an appointment-based business.
