Indiescover is a fictional music discovery app where users can explore indie or emerging artists. It was thought of simply for this landing page design project.

This project originated from me wanting to test the waters with a design that was meant to be both modern and appealing to a more creative, culturally-influenced audience.

As stated above, the goal was to design a landing page targeted towards the younger adult audience crowd. One that either needs a voice or wants to hear unheard creative, authentic voices through music.

This project would need a balance of both trendy/hipness + sleekness.

I took time to research ideal competitors and other apps that offered a similar niche of streaming service.

I even went outside of the niche just to see certain design trends that were very popular among young adult audiences.

Visual inspiration came from images of art photos of different indie artists and related events just to help set the tone.

After establishing primary, secondary, and other branding colors, I began designing the landing page.

Design tropes + elements such as rounded, curvy shapes were added to capture a feeling of creativity and openness.

Appealing Visuals for Audience: Included throughout the landing page are images of various independent/underground artists. I chose these images from cosmos.so based on the kind of artists I could picture the target audience listening to.

All Lowercase Styling for Headings: I intentionally styled all H1s and H2s in lowercase to reflect the casual, authentic tone of indie culture and appeal to a young adult audience drawn to creativity and self-expression.

Relevant Color Palette: Red and purple accents inject creativity and energy into the minimalist black-and-white design, echoing the spirit of indie culture.

Overall, I was very satisfied with the end result of the Indiescover landing page. I feel like it achieved the goal of being a design that has both a strong sense of self expression and creativity, with a mix of sophistication and sleekness.
