NINO: Operations Management Platform Concept

Overview

NINO is an operations management platform concept for a family-run container rental business. It was designed around the day-to-day work of 2 administrative staff members who coordinate customers, 2 drivers, 2 trucks, and 14 containers.
The concept brings rental activity, logistics, container availability, and payment records into one workspace.

The challenge

Operational information was spread across notebooks, calendars, WhatsApp messages, and spreadsheets. This made it harder for the administrative team to check container availability, coordinate deliveries and pickups, and keep track of paid and outstanding balances.
Because records lived across several places, the team also faced a higher risk of missed tasks and outdated information.

The approach

I started by mapping the business’s daily operational needs and organizing the platform around the tasks the administrative team handles most often.
I defined the information architecture and designed the primary user flows for:
Creating and managing rentals
Coordinating deliveries and pickups
Registering and tracking payments
From there, I designed the interface and visual system in Figma.

Key product areas

Dashboard: A central view of items that need attention, including deliveries, pickups, and payments.
Rental creation: A structured flow for registering new rentals and connecting them to customer, container, and logistics information.
Customers: Centralized customer records linked to rental history and payment status.
Container availability: A clear view of available and assigned containers.
Logistics: Delivery and pickup coordination, including truck assignment.
Payments: Payment registration and visibility into outstanding balances.
Municipal procedures: A dedicated space for administrative requirements related to local processes.

Design decisions

Structured navigation around the recurring tasks of the administrative team.
Connected customer data with related rentals and payments to reduce fragmented records.
Used labels alongside color to make availability and payment statuses easier to scan.
Prioritized deliveries, pickups, and payments that require action.
Kept forms clear and the visual structure consistent across repetitive operational tasks.

Scope

NINO is an independent design proposal informed by the real needs of a family-run container rental business. It is not presented as an implemented product, and no measured outcomes are claimed.
