Challenge

Creating a design for a mobile app. The target users are children with atypical development (autism, Down syndrome, deafness, etc.) which means they mostly have a hard time focusing.

My Responsibilities

As a UX designer, I first interviewed professionals working with the target users. After a few sessions, I gained insight into what was needed for the design and created two design variations. I conducted A/B testing on the kids as well as a preference test.

Solution

The final design is extremely clean with very few distractions. The app had to have two distinct features, word learning, and a quiz to confirm the words have been learned. One of the main difficulties of this project was simplifying everything. The whole project was done in Figma, from wireframes, initial design, prototypes, final design, and developer handoff. I worked closely with the product owners and developers to make sure everything works well.
