Why I started the podcast
I felt like to provide more valuable content to mine & magier's audience on LinkedIn, our blog, newsletter, and beyond, we needed to bring on marketing experts to share real-life experience.
We already learned that people trust people over brands. So, a podcast from the marketing lead of the company would be another potential way to build awareness, as well as drive trust and value to our target audience.
I wanted a space to talk about actionable marketing that is driven by industry expertise. Not frameworks for the sake of frameworks.
Real stories, real, honest marketers sharing their wins, mistakes and things they wish they knew sooner.
So I started Marketing Mondays with Maria. A podcast for marketers who want to grow and learn from others.
What I did:
Picked a consistent format (30-45 minute episodes, bi-weekly)
Focused on 1 marketer pain point per episode
Created podcast visuals / branding together with the designers at magier, Notion workflows, and a content repurposing system
Distributed every episode across LinkedIn, newsletter, blog, YouTube + Reels, Spotify and Apple Music
Edited audio and video, wrote all descriptions + promotional copy myself
Short form snippet from one of the episodes
What makes this different?
Tone: Conversational, actionable, helpful, and human.
Guests: Founders, CMOs, and senior marketers willing to share their learnings and tactics
Topics: From building your personal brand to building a productive marketing team
Results:
Built a deeper relationship and trust with our target audience (especially on LinkedIn, but also beyond that)
Created a repeatable valuable content format
What I learned:
Marketers crave honesty and transparency. Quality > Quantity.
Podcasts donβt need to go viral to build trust and brand equity
Consistency is key - ideally we would continue with more seasons and episodes for years β podcasting is a long term game.
Repurposing is key β a single episode can become 10 pieces of content, which can make content creation super efficient and the content itself more valuable as you're tapping into the expertise of others.
Great questions, value & connection with the guest > perfect production
