Redesign of a Mobile App for an Enterprise company

Humza K

Overview

This was a redesign of an Enterprise company's first mobile app, which was initially built without any involvement from the UX team. It was designed in parity with a desktop app, hence, it is not optimized for mobile usage. We were tasked with revamping the entire app, making it more user-friendly.

Strategy

Our primary goal was to limit the number of features by focusing on strong mobile use cases, like managing bots, as well as getting status updates of all the automations while the user is away from the desktop. In the next phase, separate apps are targeted towards secondary use cases and personas.

Process

Mind Map for Information Architecture

We started off by creating a mind-map diagram to illustrate all the features that would be needed to fulfill the tasks from the workshop.

Mobile Information Architecture

Based on the mind map, we sketched three or four layout explorations for the app. This is the final layout we agreed upon as a team. Once the main navigation was finalized, we adopted a structure similar to the company's desktop app, as users were already familiar with it.
