Background
PathFinder is an early-stage startup on a mission to improve transparency in career paths and inspire students and job seekers transitioning into or starting a career to pursue their passions. It aims to achieve product-market fit and increase engagement.
I collaborated with a product manager, a designer, and 7 engineers to redesign the landing page and integrate generative AI. I owned strategy, led the end-to-end design and established the first design system.
Research
To understand why PathFinder can't increase engagement and how it can achieve their product-market fit, I kickstarted with research by conducting 5 user interviews of navigating through the live site and their experience finding a career path, 2 empathy maps, and 4 SWOT analyses.

Design
Research also shows that students and professionals want their questions answered quickly when learning about certain tech careers. Thus, the product manager, the designer, and I came up with potential solutions: redesigning the landing page and adding generative AI to achieve its product-market fit and increase engagement.
With those solutions, I designed mid-fidelity and high-fidelity wireframes for engineers to visualize the site's function. The high-fidelity wireframes are for usability testing, so the participants feel as if the site has been launched.

Design system
I established the first design system because the site lacks accessibility and helps save time by reusing the same components to create future high-fidelity screens. I want to ensure they are WCAG AAA compliant so that it's accessible for every individual, which could increase engagement.

Results
This website resulted in 100% task completion, an 80% satisfaction score, and 2 organizations interested in partnering with us. The website launched in March 2024, but we will need to get further user feedback from the 2 organizations to see if we need to design more features that align with their needs.
