Bitcoin Yay, a Mining App Built and Grown to 200K+ Users

Bitcoin Yay is a mobile mining app for BTCY, the micro token of Bitcoin, built on the Indexx ecosystem. I worked on it from both ends. As project manager I oversaw the app's development and its UI/UX design, and as Global Marketing Director I built the system that brought users in.
On the growth side I built the engine end to end: positioning, channels, referral mechanics, campaign design, and the funnel from ad to installed app to active miner. Zero to 200,000+ platform users and 80,000+ app users on under $5,000 in paid spend, roughly $0.025 per user in a category where crypto app installs routinely cost $3 to $8.

Building the app

I ran the build with the development team: the React Native app for iOS and Android, the three mining tiers, the Mining Station referral leaderboard, campaign rewards paid out in mining power, and the automatic account link to the Indexx wallet that makes the 10,000 BTCY withdrawal gate work. Owning the product and the growth meant the referral and reward mechanics could be designed into the app from the start, which is most of why acquisition stayed so cheap.

The Stats

200,000+ platform users, 80,000+ on the app No existing audience, no seed community, no influencer budget. Growth came from referral mechanics and campaign loops rather than bought installs.
Under $5,000 total paid spend About $0.025 per acquired user. The comparable benchmark for crypto app installs sits between $3 and $8, so paid was used to seed loops rather than to buy the user base.
2 app stores, iOS and Android Full launch on both, with QR download paths on desktop so web traffic converted instead of dying at "download on your phone."
4 chains, 1 token BTCY deployed across Solana, Tron, Ethereum, and Binance, which widened the addressable audience to holders already living on any of those chains.
10,000 BTCY, the withdrawal gate The threshold that turns a curious installer into a returning one. Every retention mechanic on the product is built around closing that distance.

Referral loops, not ad spend

Growth is engineered into the product rather than bought. The Mining Station leaderboard ranks owners by active referrals and refreshes weekly, with the top spots sitting in the low hundreds, so the competition stays visibly winnable rather than dominated by whales. Public ranking turns acquisition into a game users run themselves.

Mining power as the universal currency

Every campaign pays out in the same reward. Follow the socials and upload a screenshot, get two weeks of turbo mining. Place a bet, get seven days. Subscribe, mine up to 6x faster. One reward across every mechanic means every campaign compounds the same behaviour instead of splitting attention.

Three tiers, three intents

Free mining for the curious, Power Mining for the committed, Quantum Mining for anyone who wants tradable BTCY without the grind. Three entry points meant the funnel monetised patience and impatience at the same time.

A closed ecosystem loop

BTCY is mined on Bitcoin Yay and spent on Indexx, one account created automatically across both, with Lotto, Shop, and future trading all living on the other side of the withdrawal gate. Users are acquired into an ecosystem, not just an app, which is what made retention cheap.

One line that explains the whole product

1 Bitcoin = 1 million Bitcoin-Yay. The petty cash of Bitcoin. A single comparison does the positioning work that a whitepaper would otherwise fail at, and it's repeatable by every user explaining it to the next one.
