Project Overview
For this project, I was commissioned to create a modern, user-friendly website for ITLB, the Belgium Federation of Transport. Their existing site, built on HTML 4.0, was outdated and lacked the features needed to support the organization’s current goals.
This new website aimed to better serve ITLB’s primary audience: truck drivers in Belgium who rely on the federation for industry updates, policy information, and resources. The project’s primary objective was to build a streamlined platform that would be easy to navigate and maintain, ensuring users could quickly find relevant information.
Challenges and Goals
Several key challenges emerged early in the project:
Modernizing Legacy Systems: The original HTML 4.0 website was not only outdated but also inflexible, making it difficult to scale or update content efficiently.
Ease of Maintenance: ITLB needed a system that their team could easily update without technical expertise.
User-Centric Design: Given that the target users are busy truck drivers, the website needed to offer a clean, easy-to-read layout to allow rapid access to essential information.
Reliability and Accessibility: With so many users on the road, a fast-loading, accessible site across all devices was essential to ensure it worked seamlessly on mobile and desktop.
Execution
To address these challenges, I opted to build the new site on Framer. Framer’s powerful CMS system made it easy to organize and update content, aligning well with ITLB’s goal for a highly maintainable website. I structured the CMS to allow ITLB’s team to modify and add content as needed without requiring any technical background.
Throughout development, I tested the website with real users to refine the design based on feedback and ensure it truly met the needs of the intended audience.
Outcome
The redesigned ITLB website achieved all project objectives, transforming the organization’s digital presence. The new website is fully responsive, visually appealing, and highly functional, providing easy access to resources for truck drivers and other industry stakeholders. With Framer’s CMS, ITLB’s team can now update the website independently, ensuring it remains current and relevant to their audience.
The clean, user-centered design has significantly improved navigation and readability, while mobile compatibility ensures that truck drivers can conveniently access the site on the go. The result is a future-proof, scalable solution that equips ITLB with the tools needed to continue supporting Belgium’s transportation industry effectively.
