πŸ“ Saying Yes to New Things ✨

Hanna Michael

Earlier this year, I decided that I needed a change in my life. I had been working full-time for a remote company since 2017 but with everything going on in the world this past year, I realized that I was unhappy in my work situation and that I needed to take a step πŸ‘£ in a different direction.
After not having looked for a job in so long, I was unsure what direction I wanted to take in my career. I began taking on independent projects on the side while also applying for full-time roles with new companies. πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’» The Contra Ambassador Program was one of the opportunities that I stumbled across in my job search and I thought it sounded like a cool opportunity to participate in product testing a new app for creatives while also getting to connect and collaborate with some rad individuals.
Honestly, doing a program like this is not something I would have done a year ago. I used to be afraid of trying new things or reaching for opportunities that were outside of my bubble. I used to hold myself back out of fear of rejection but I’ve had a major mentality shift over the last several months and have started reaching further than I ever have before and embracing the growth that has come with it. πŸ™Œ ✨
Participating in the Contra Program has been a very fun experience! It’s introduced me to new tools (like Loom and Notion) and forced me to think about presenting my work in a new format on the Contra platform. Most notably, it introduced me to a community of people from all over the world. 🌎 Not to mention the opportunity to be an early adopter of the platform itself–I am so looking forward to some of the features coming down the pipeline!

TL;DR: If there’s one piece of advice I’d like to leave you with, it’s that there’s always an opportunity to grow personally and professionally, and don’t be afraid to try new things!
