Includeat is a recipe app project that adapts to your diet. The idea is that all recipes are available in 7 different diets. It's a project I founded and designed myself, in response to current questions about the democratization of plant-based food and the need for more sustainable and responsible consumption.
Today, 2.5% of the population are vegetarians, 10% are considering becoming vegetarians and 30% already define themselves as flexitarians. These statistics reflect a growing desire to shift our food consumption towards a healthier, more sustainable and more plant-based diet. But that's not all: other trends have also been gaining momentum over the past few years, such as anti-waste, do it yourself, and more local and seasonal consumption.
To keep pace with these changes, I came up with the idea of designing a recipe app that adapts to the diet and encourages people to cook more locally and responsibly.
Following questionnaires and interviews, I identified 2 main targets for my future solution. People already following a particular diet (vegetarian, vega, gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.) and people who consider themselves flexitarians, i.e. people who have started to reduce their meat and fish consumption and develop a food conscience. The first target group needs quick access to recipes to suit their diet, while the second needs support to learn more about responsible plant-based eating.
I wanted to develop a mobile application, as this is the device most often used in daily cooking. I wanted it to be fluid, simple and focused on the needs of future users. All actions are easily identifiable, and save a maximum amount of time when carrying out a recipe. All searches can be filtered by season, utensils, allergies or intolerances. The main feature of the application, namely the switching of recipes to 7 different diets, can be easily reached by clicking on the recipe card. Of course, users with a particular diet can set this choice within their profile, but the aim is above all to enable everyone to consult all versions, in order to educate awareness and reduce prejudice about the different diets that exist.
