ScieNFT is a revolutionary platform that merges the worlds of science and blockchain technology. As the founder of ScieNFT, I aimed to create an open-access preprint server that allows scientists to share their work using non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that can be bought and sold as digital collectibles.
Project Goals
The primary goal was to create a user-friendly platform that empowers scientists to easily publish research on the blockchain while keeping ownership rights in mind. The platform needed to support the creation, collection, and curation of scientific NFTs, and provide a new way for scientists and institutions to recognize the value of scientific work.
Project Challenges
One of the main challenges was integrating blockchain technology with scientific publishing. This required a profound understanding of both fields and the ability to create a platform that was accessible to scientists who may not be familiar with blockchain. Ensuring the platform was secure, reliable, and capable of storing all preprint data on the decentralized web was also a significant challenge.
Another major challenge was designing a user experience that would be intuitive for our target user persona: scientists aged 30 to 60 who may not be tech-savvy. Given that the UX for web3 is still maturing, creating an interface that was easy to navigate and understand for this demographic was a complex task.
Final Project and How I Felt About the Result
The final product, ScieNFT, is a testament to the power of innovative thinking and technological advancement. It provides a unique platform for scientists to share their work, contribute to the scientific community, and gain recognition for their contributions.
As the founder and designer of the project, I am incredibly proud of what ScieNFT has become. It was a challenging project, but the final result is a platform that has the potential to revolutionize scientific publishing. The positive feedback from the scientific community and the growing interest in ScieNFT is a testament to the success of the project.
