This design was inspired by an animation I came across on X that brought back memories of the iPod era. Although I never owned one, I was always fascinated by its design and user interface. This project became my way of reimagining that nostalgia through a modern mobile interface—blending retro emotion with a futuristic feel.
Thought Process
Navigation
The thought process behind this prototype was to ensure that users can preview and navigate to other pages seamlessly. For lyrics in particular, users don’t need to scroll all the way down to view them—they can simply follow along at a glance.
The interface is also designed to be scrollable, allowing users to skim through content quickly. When they want to fully engage with any section, a single tap expands the experience.
I was further inspired by Emil Kowalski’s page transitions. The animation allows movement from Related to About in a single jump, intentionally bypassing Lyrics to create a smoother, more fluid navigation flow.
Add to playlist
The Add to Playlist button was designed to evoke emotion beyond a simple tap. Animated fully in Rive, it uses a soft press overlay for feedback and a rolling vinyl motion to visually confirm the track’s addition unlike the traditional confirmation message.
Vinyl rotation
This project merges two retro eras—iPods and vinyl record players—into a futuristic interaction. Designed and animated entirely in Rive, it also explores deeper use of data binding to enhance responsiveness and realism
