Turning everyday income, expenses and transactions into a financial picture users can understand instantly
The product was designed as a UK-focused personal finance and cash-flow management app that brings income, expenses, available balance, bills and transaction history into one simple mobile experience.
Rather than building another banking-style interface filled with financial terminology, the goal was to create a product that answers three basic questions immediately: What came in? What went out? What do I actually have available?
Client Pain
Personal finance apps often become complicated very quickly. Users are presented with multiple accounts, categories, charts, budgets and transaction tables before they understand their actual financial position.
For freelancers, independent professionals and people managing irregular income, this problem becomes even more significant. A bank balance alone does not explain today's income, upcoming bills, available money or whether cash flow is improving.
The challenge was to turn fragmented financial activity into a simple daily overview without making the experience feel like accounting software.
About the Project
The app creates a central financial workspace where users can monitor:
Income • Expenses • Available Balance • Pending Bills • Cash-Flow Trends • Transactions • Ledger Activity
The dashboard prioritises the most important financial numbers first, while more detailed records remain available through the Ledger.
Users can move from a high-level financial overview into individual transactions, daily records, monthly activity or manually add new income, expenses and transfers.
Business Task to Solve
The design challenge was not simply displaying transaction data.
The product needed to help users understand their financial situation within seconds, while still providing enough depth for regular money management.
The experience therefore revolves around four questions:
How much did I earn? How much did I spend? How much is actually available?Where did the money move?
This became the foundation of the product's information architecture.
Product Outcome
The final experience transforms financial activity into a clear daily financial story.
Instead of forcing users to interpret long transaction lists, the interface moves progressively from:
Financial position → Trend → Transaction → Detail → Action
The core UX principle became:
See your money → Understand the movement → Find the transaction → Take action
