Airbnb UX Redesign: Wireframe Recreation & UX Analysis

As part of a UX fundamentals course, I was tasked with analyzing a major digital product and recreating one of its core user flows using low-fidelity wireframes. I chose Airbnb, a globally recognized platform, due to its complex UX patterns and wide user base.

The goal was to reverse-engineer the UX logic behind Airbnb’s booking experience — from homepage to final booking — and rebuild it from the ground up in Figma, focusing on structure, hierarchy, and usability rather than visual design.

To sharpen my UX thinking by analyzing real-world decisions in a product I use often, while learning how to structure flows, identify usability patterns, and re-create wireframes that reflect both function and intention.

I started by breaking down the original Airbnb flow, screen by screen. I noted layout choices, copy hierarchy, button placement, interaction timing, and the use of progressive disclosure. I paid attention to how the site guided users, minimized friction, and built trust along the way.

Using Figma, I recreated each screen in grayscale wireframe format, stripping out branding and visuals to focus purely on UX. I used consistent grid systems, simple shapes, and clear text hierarchy to mirror Airbnb’s user intent without visual noise.

This project deepened my understanding of UX structure, micro-decisions, and flow design. It also taught me to view digital products with a more critical, analytical eye — asking why every design choice was made.

The recreated wireframes served as a foundation for future redesign concepts and helped me internalize good UX practices.
