In the early days of the pandemic the UK introduced a tiered structure of rules for residents of different areas. The rules were constantly changing and it became difficult for people to know what they could and could not do. An opportunity was seen to provide value to citizens while also serving as a growth marketing tool for a startup.
The product
The COVID tier un-confuser was built over the course of 3 days as a rapid iterative process to launch a growth campaign.
Users could enter their postcode, the tool would determine their locality and then the respective tier for their area.
Below would be shown a list of cards with colour coded activities to inform users as to what they could/could not do.
The mechanics of it
A database was created in AirTable which linked postcode areas, councils, districts etc. together with tier classifications. Each tier classification was then linked with activities and the status of those activities for that area.
A site was then designed and built using WebFlow and connected using JavaScript to the Airtable API.
