What's Shagle?

Shagle is an Iraqi government-backed platform built to be the trusted destination for IT specialists seeking freelancing opportunities. The platform connects skilled IT professionals with a range of opportunities, serving as a reliable bridge between talent and employers in the Iraqi market.

The Challenge

Shagle was a brand-new company with no existing identity. They needed a complete digital foundation: strategy, visual identity, brand guidelines, and a design system that could scale into a full platform (currently under development).
Three things made this project distinct:
Cultural narrative was central. The client specifically sought expertise in Arabian narrative and storytelling, wanting the brand to authentically incorporate that cultural dimension into the strategy and visual identity.
Bilingual by design. Arabic and English had to be integrated seamlessly, not as an afterthought.
Trust was non-negotiable. As a government-backed platform, Shagle needed to project credibility and security while still feeling energetic enough to attract young professionals, students, and part-time workers.

Phase One: Strategic Foundation

We started with the Why, What, and How, working with the team to define Shagle's strategic positioning.
The core tension: how do you build a brand that feels both institutionally trustworthy (government-backed, secure, reliable) and personally inviting (vibrant, accessible, empowering)? That tension shaped every decision that followed.
The strategy anchored on Shagle as a community where trust and flexibility coexist, enabling IT specialists to find opportunities on their own terms.

Phase Two: Visual Exploration

We developed multiple concepts and presented 4 key directions to the client. Each concept told a different story about what Shagle could look and feel like, exploring different ways to balance professionalism with energy, and institutional trust with personal empowerment.
The design had to work across both Arabic and English, with energetic and vibrant colors that convey Shagle's dynamic nature while incorporating trust signals like verification badges, secure payment icons, and professional profile elements.

Phase Three: Identity System

After the client selected the final direction, we built out the complete brand identity system: logo, color palette, typography, iconography, and comprehensive brand guidelines. The system was designed to scale across digital and print, with clear rules for bilingual (Arabic/English) usage.

Phase Four: Digital Presence Design

The brand system was translated into a digital design foundation for Shagle's platform, which is currently under development. The design establishes the visual language for the product experience, ensuring consistency from marketing touchpoints through to the platform itself.

The Impact

The brand identity and digital foundation immediately qualified Shagle to receive government funding. The comprehensive brand system gave the team the credibility and visual infrastructure needed to move into platform development with institutional backing secured.
