Responsive bicycle E-Commerce

Designing a bike E-Commerce quickly

Improving my UI skills and understanding how to build flexible, responsive experiences that adapt across screen sizes.

Overview

This was a quick personal project aimed at improving my UI design skills, specifically working with Auto Layout, responsive design, and component structure in Figma. I chose a bicycle e-commerce homepage as my focus, combining learning with hands-on design practice.
Goal: Improve the user experience across devices by creating a visually clear, well-structured, and modern interface that simplifies shopping for bicycles online.

Research

As part of a self-initiated design challenge, I analyzed three existing bicycle e-commerce websites and noticed recurring UI/UX issues:
How products are presented
What UI patterns are used for navigation, cards, and CTAs
The common UX structure of a bicycle website
Key findings:
Gazelle: Mega menu, full screen photo in hero section
Veloretti: Ease users into the configurator, Using white text on a light gray CTA weakens visibility and UX.
Pashley: Represent categories visually and improve navigation by images, immediately switch currencies.

Final UI

After analyzing three existing bicycle e-commerce websites (Veloretti, Gazelle, and Pashley), I designed a responsive homepage UI focused on clarity, usability, and clean hierarchy.
I paid special attention to auto layout and responsiveness in Figma, which were areas I initially struggled with but improved during this project. I used consistent spacing, proper padding, and scalable components to make the layout adaptable across devices.
One of the key improvements was in the card design. I decluttered the layout, ensured better visual balance, and adjusted the CTA button color (“Buy Now”) for better visibility and engagement. Instead of a weak white-on-gray combo, I chose a bold primary color that aligns with accessibility and UX best practices.
